Knitography Selbu Sock Stick
The Selbu Sock Stick is a knitting tool used to measure your hand knitted socks accurately during knitting. The Stock Stick - which comes in both inch and centremetre measurements - is a sturdy tool, allowing you to measure horizontally for the length of the foot or vertically for the length of the cuff or the length of the leg of the knitted sock without fumbling about.
Selbu Sock Sticks are light weight and fit nicely inside your knitting bag, making them very transportable and convenient to use on the go.
The Selbu Sock Sticks are handmade by Patricia from her Knitography Farm Shop in Norway, using 4 mm Norwegian Birch from the Trøndelag area of Norway. They are completely organic, made without any glues or laquers, and are hand polished, conditioned and sealed with Patricia's handmade 100% pure Norwegian Bee Butter.
Selbu Sock Sticks are 11 (approx 28 cm) inches long.
How to use the Sock Stick: You can knit any length of cuff or leg desired. You will simply stop knitting 5 cm before your desired foot length, to begin your toe decreases for the perfect fit of your handmade knitted socks (cuff down). The Selbu Sock Sticks can also be used for measuring during other knitting projects such as mittens.
Recommended Care: As the Selbu Sock Sticks are handmade of wood, with time and use some areas may develop roughness. This can be corrected with a very light sanding using very fine sandpaper and applying bee's wax when needed. Clean with a non-abrasive cloth.
