Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk AS is a traditional Norwegian family owned wool spinning mill founded in 1898. It has been in the same family for four generations, and some of the machines that are being used are over 100 years old. Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk is a newly certified Economusée, one of ten Economusées in Norway today.
Farm to Cable Yarns is now carrying Blåne, the bulky weight version of the Tinde and Sølje bases - the yarn spun by Hillesvåg from the Norwegian pelssau breed. The Norwegian Pelssau (also known as Norwegian Pelt or Norwegian Fur Sheep) originated as a cross between Gotland and Old Norwegian. This native breed has a lustrous, curly fleece, with a combination of dark grey, grey and white coloured fleece.
Blåne comes in a variety of beautiful colours, overdyed on the natural grey wool, resulting in rich and deep colours, with a beautiful lustre.
