Avenue Royal Legwarmer Kits - Stephanie Earp (with Ram Jam Sport)
We are so excited to launch the Avenue Royal Leg Warmers – a pattern designed by Stephanie Earp especially for Farm to Cable Yarns, using Daughter of a Shepherd Ram Jam Sport Weight yarn.
Stephanie’s design was inspired by the bitter cold of Montreal winters, and named for the street she takes on her walk to work. These leg warmers are not the sort to wear with tights and ballet flats (in case anyone is having Flashdance memories right now!) These are designed to be worn over jeans or other winter pants and the stretchy cuff can be pulled over boot tops and up over the knee to cover up any area left exposed between your boots and parka hem.
I tend to live in leggings and sweaters over the winter - but am always a little chilly around the house, so I can absolutely see me wearing these inside over leggings too!
The colour pattern that Stephanie used for these legwarmers owes much to the Sanquhar knitting tradition, and is subtle enough to pair with most winter ensembles. The rustic, wooly nature of the Ram Jam Sport will keep you toasty and help repel slush and snow.
Winter is coming...but there is still lots of time to knit a pair of these (for yourself or as a gift).
The design uses Daughter of a Shepherd Ram Jam Sport in two colours: MC: shade 3 (black); CC shade 1 (light grey). We are offering kits in these two colours (the colours Stephanie used in her original sample) as well as shade 3 (black) and shade 0 (white) (but of course you can also put together your own colour combinations).
Yarn Requirements: Daughter of a Shepherd Ram Jam Sport (100% wool; 185 y/169 m per 50 g)
In her sample, Stephanie used approximately 2.25 skeins of the MC and 1.25 skeins of the CC. The pattern is written for one size, but can be easily adjusted and customized, as Stephanie describes in more detail in her pattern. The exact yardage needed may vary depending on your gauge, and whether you want to make any adjustments to the size Kits contains 3 skeins of the MC and 2 skeins of the CC, which should be more than enough yarn to make these modfications.
Kit A: (shown in sample): MC (shade 3 - black); CC (shade 1 - light grey)
Kit B: MC (shade 3- black); CC (shade 0 - white)
The kit does not include the pattern, which can be found on Stephanie’s website at stephanieearp.com or on her Ravelry page. If you purchase one of the kits you will be emailed a discount code, which can be used for 30% off the pattern. Also, until the end of November, 2020, the kit price will be discounted from the price of buying 5 skeins of Ram Jam sport separately.
